Selangor Basketball Referees’ Workshop (Level 1) 2024

In a significant stride towards enhancing the officiating standards of basketball in Malaysia, the MABA Referees Committee, in alignment with the MABA President’s strategic plans, has launched the Selangor Basketball Referees’ Workshop (Level 1) 2024. This pivotal program organised by the Selangor Referee Committee, aims to cultivate and refine the skills of grassroots referees, ensuring a robust foundation for the sport’s growth.

The workshop, held on January 20 and 21 at the esteemed S.J.K.C. Serdang Baru 2, witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of 36 participants. This included a diverse group of individuals keen on advancing their knowledge and expertise in basketball officiating. Notably, two participants were Malays, underscoring the commitment to inclusivity within the sport.

The primary objective of this workshop is to lay the groundwork for a more inclusive basketball community. By extending training opportunities to enthusiasts of various ethnic backgrounds, the Malaysian Basketball Referees Committee envisions transforming basketball into a sport accessible to all Malaysians.

The workshop, which marks the inaugural session for 2024, is a collaborative effort between the state of Selangor, serving as the host, and the Malaysian Basketball Association as the co-organizer. This partnership has resulted in the seamless execution of the event, ensuring that participants gain valuable insights and skills under the guidance of experienced mentors.

As the 2024 Selangor Basketball Referees’ Workshop (Level 1) progresses, it signifies a vital step towards fostering a more knowledgeable, diverse, and skilled cadre of basketball referees at the grassroots level. This initiative aligns with the broader vision of making basketball a sport that transcends barriers, becoming a truly national endeavor.
