It is my great pleasure and honour to welcome you all to this momentous occasion. This joint venture signifies a historic milestone for MABA, marking the commencement of a new era for MABA and the sport of basketball. Through this collaboration, we embarked on the redevelopment of our land into a state-of-the-art hospitality building. This development will not only provide us with a new headquarters but also generate impressive income for our future activities and operations. Today’s event is a significant step forward for MABA, and I am honoured to share these exciting developments with you.
We are proud to announce the birth of MABA Suitez @ KL City Centre, a hospitality building that stands as a testament to our commitment to progress and growth. This development is more than just a residential space; it is a symbol of luxury, convenience, and strategic planning. The hospitality building’s amenities include a sky lounge, sky pool, and other noteworthy facilities.
Our MABA Headquarters Office will proudly find its place in this hospitality building, occupying 3,000 square feet of prime office space. Furthermore, with the efforts of MABA leadership, there will also be a 3×3 basketball court situated next to the office. In addition to serving as a public facility to the hospitality building, it will also serve as a reminder of the valuable historical legacy that the Malaysia Basketball Association has left on this land.
MABA Suitez is not merely a hospitality building; it represents a prime investment opportunity. With its strategic location in the heritage area of Kuala Lumpur, within walking distance to Merdeka 118 (the second-tallest building in the world), near tourist attractions like Petaling Street, and with easy access to schools, MRT, LRT, and Monorail stations, the potential for growth is immense. MABA will engage in negotiations with the developer to secure special rates for MABA EXCO members interested in purchasing units.
With the signing of this agreement, MABA will gain access to an impressive RM170 million in cash in exchange for hospitality building units, with each affiliate entitled to utilize two units. Affiliates have the option to generate revenue by renting out these units, contributing to their operational expenses. Through the MABA/EXSIM Joint Venture Redevelopment Project, we are confident that MABA will achieve financial sustainability in the coming years.
I want to emphasize that MABA has diligently adhered to its constitution. We conducted an EGM and initiated an open tender process, and after careful consideration, EXSIM emerged as the provider of the best offer.
In closing, I would like to express my gratitude to all parties involved, especially EXSIM, for their collaboration. This visionary and strategic joint venture project not only marks a new chapter for MABA but also promises a bright future for Malaysian basketball.
