In the men’s Group A match, defending champion Negeri Sembilan thrashed Armed Forces 151-58, setting the highest single-game scoring record at the tournament.
Forward Chang Zi Fueng was on fire, shooting 14-29 from behind the arc and scored 42 points, both of which are record-setting in this year’s tournament.
Johor, who were down by as many as 19 points in the first quarter, rallied to defeat Selangor 84-79, led by 1.70m point guard Lim Chee Wei who scored a game-high 23 points.
Johor and PDRM, both with a 2-1 record, will face off tomorrow fighting for qualification, while Selangor (1-2) are eliminated and will face Negeri Sembilan in the final group game.
In Group B top of the table clash, ex-national team center Kwaan Yoong Jing had 11 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, it is the first triple-double in the tournament, and Malacca beat Perak 93-73 for their 3rd consecutive wins.
Penang defeated MABA Selection 73-68 in a close game, taking their record to 2-1 and sitting in 3rd on the table.
There were 3 games in the women’s division today, and Selangor withstood Johor’s rally and beat the Southerners 67-55 to make it 2 wins in a row.
On the other hand, both Negeri Sembilan teams won their games today, with defending champion Negeri Sembilan 1 stayed unbeaten with a 70-60 victory over Malacca, while Negeri Sembilan 2 enjoyed their first win of the tournament, beating Penang 61-43 earlier in the day.
