4-time defending champions Negeri Sembilan beat Johor 103-58 to win their second straight game in Men’s Group A, while Perak led the way in Group B with 3 wins in a row.
Negeri Sembilan was simply too good for Johor, who played without point guard Lim Chee Wei, the defending champion built a 32-18 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
Captain Wong Yi Hou and Liew Wei Yuong both came off the bench to score 15 points apiece, while point guard Heng Yee Tong and Ho Hoon Sheng both had 10 points for Johor.
PDRM defeated ATM 107-54 in the other Group A game, it was their second straight win.
Perak was unstoppable, beating Sabah 101-64 and topping Group B with 3 victories. Meanwhile, Malacca also defeated the MABA Selection team 101-64 and won their second game in as many nights. The two teams will face off tomorrow to fight for the top seed of Group B.
In the Women’s division, 2-time defending champions Negeri Sembilan 1 defeated Johor 66-47, topping the table with back to back wins.
In the earlier game, Selangor, who rejoined the tournament after a 4-year absence, had a flying start with a 94-22 thrashing of Penang.
Malacca, who also made their first appearance, defeated Negeri Sembilan 2 87-48, sending their opponents a 2-game losing streak.
